Rules of thumb for fishing tackle
Question:
Can anyone give me some pointers or rules of thumb to go by when choosing equipment (i.e., rod, lures, tackle, etc.) for these environments. I believe the common fish I will be going for are trout and bass.

Answer:
Might want to go to Wal-Mart or big5 and get 2 books by Ronnie Kovach: Trout fishing in California and Bass fishing in California. They’re cheap and are pretty good books and will cover your new fishing holes, and will give you a good idea of what you need equipment wise. There’s some great bass fishing to be had, and we have huge stripers, and now you got to head up to the sierras a couple times a year to do some serious trout fishing. That’s the best right there.
