What is the best lure?
Question:
My question is "what is the best lure for bass fishing?"

Answer:
"Best" is a relative term. The best lure to use is the one that the bass want at that particular time. Depending on many things such as time of year, water temperature, barometric pressure, light penetration, forage preference, fish activity level, depth that the fish are holding at, cover type, current, etc, the best lure might be a Rattle Trap, a long minnow imitating hard bait, a spinner bait, a jig and pig, an 8" plastic worm or maybe a 4" worm, maybe a 2-3" plastic grub or crawfish. It could be a surface chugger or buzz bait, who knows? One thing that all beginning anglers need to learn is that regardless of what the advertisements in all the magazines and TV commercials tell you, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A MAGIC LURE. Different lures work under different conditions. It is your mission as an angler to be able to figure out what lure to use when. Then you'll find the BEST lure, at that time. 10 minutes later, it could be something else. After a while, you'll learn to let the bass tell you what they want. They'll do that if you only learn to listen.
