Question:
I am new to the sport and would like some information.
I would love to get a tip on a website that explains equipment needs for different types of fishing, as well as bait and some techniques. Does such a site exist? Does it have a glossary of terms?
Answer:
Many exist. Unfortunately, they're mostly for one kind of fishing or one type of fish, unless you go for area.
Then a bunch of very short summaries of groups will go up on your browser to choose from. You will be bewildered at first. That's okay; just keep plugging away at it. You can also name the area you're interested in and ask for tourist information +fishing. In MN that'd get you offers of all sorts of places to stay, but not much about actual fishing, so save it as a last resort.
If you are in the US, look up your state Department of Natural Resources. If elsewhere in the world, try your county name or your political division of that country and add the word fishing.
Remember, you can always buy a very cheap rod at any sports store or even discount department store and just go find some water and start fishing. After you get your license. I've not heard of anywhere in the world that doesn't require a license. I'd bet there aren't any where English is the common language.
