Fly fishing reel, a real good one.
Question:
I am a newbie to fly fishing but an old timer on the net. I want to get a very excellent fly reel for stream trout fishing. I think that a 5 weight is appropriate for what I want. I am impressed by the "Ross Gunnison" reel and the Jack Charlton "8400 elite" models. Does anyone have experience or opinions on these? I have "lurked" for a while but I have not seen much discussion on these two.

Answer:
The Ross 'Gunnison' reel is one of the safest recommendations a fly shop sales person can make in the $200 range. Fully machined reel, one piece spool, sealed ball bearings, very durable anodizing, made in USA, consistent drag and very light weight. If you are constantly catch salt water fish that are over 20 pounds, I would look at a big game reel with a cork drag. Abel or Tibor?
