| Scott Fly Rod question |
Question:
Does anyone out there fish with Scott Fly Rods?
I have been looking at and casting several different brands over the last few months and (without actually fishing with one) the Scott seems to be just as good as any other Rod I have casted.
Any particular Scott model that you are partial to? Looking for some honest
product reviews and opinions on the Scott Fly Rods.
Answer:
After 4 hours of casting different 8wts on the practice lawn,
I've decided on a Scott STS 8wt 9' (3 pc.) for my first saltwater rod. The rod practically sung in my hand. Just had the best feel of any of the rods in the store (and I cast them all: Loomis, Sage, Winston, etc.). Best distance, best control, best feel.
But the real thing is that this is an individual decision based on my own casting "style" (if my awkward flailing can be said to have a "style"). What works for me may be down- right uncomfortable or awkward for someone else.
I've cast G series rods and think that they are fine as well (just have no need for a new trout rod at present -- ok, my wife might object to the implication that I "need" the salt- water rod, but it sure feels like a NEED to me!)
