Favorite tackles for smallies/pike/walleye
Question:
This lake has a lot of smallmouth bass - I have never caught one of these...hmmm what tackle to use? I already have Senko and top waters and some rattling' shad type hard baits... I read they use a lot of "jigs" but what would be the group’s tried and true favorites for this kind of fishing? Second, there is pike - what do I use for them? Do I need 20lb test and steel leaders or what? Just he pickerel here will rip up and abraid Fireline pretty easy... And what should use to catch them - like Mepps spinners? Third - Walleye - I never caught these either but I understand trolling is the way to catch them? Like with what tackle? Do they hang deep? Can you folks give me some of your favorites?

Answer:
I was there at the same tournament as Randy (King) and I caught just about everything on senkos. Even a 3 lb, 23 inch walleye. It came from about 5 feet of water near the shoreline. When I hooked into it I thought I had the lunker for the tournament, then when I reached down to lip it, look out! That was my first walleye and boy what a mouth on that thing. It came on a chartreuse 5" senko wacky rigged. I also had a lot of luck with that same combo on smallies (smoke pearl blue and baby trout worked great too).
